"We ran out from the yellowtail grounds in the nicest weather of our new 2012 season," noted the report from skipper Brian Kiyohara on American Angler June 16. "We looked forward to glassing in grease calm weather but like everything, there is always the other side to the story. Today the ocean had the swimming pool effect where the top layer of the ocean was warm due to no wind and glassy conditions, so it was impossible to work any kind of temperature edge. We ended up driving around the ocean in generic water hoping to find a school.
At the end of the day we scratched about 40 mixed tuna for the half day of fishing and hopefully tomorrow we will be busy all day."
