Good Yellowtail bite continues; Spotter plane will be used by the local fleet beginning Saturday

Local fishing seems poised for the spring yellowtail launch, as waters warm, weather abates and anglers become increasingly interested in getting their string stretched. The catch from Saturday as reported by Bob Vanion on Let's Talk Hookup included an intriguing take of 56 yellows in the 20-pound class for 110 anglers on four boats fishing at the Coronados, along with 20 barracuda.
Prowler owner-operator Buzz Brizendine called in to say that SAC is ready to make use of a tuna spotter plane beginning next Saturday, when the Prowler will be out on a day and a half trip. Buzz said there was good-looking water out toward The Dumper.
Long range boats are starting their spring week-long trips now, and boats remain fishing in southern waters for a few more weeks. That fishing has consistently been very good the whole season, which began in October.
