Fish Report for 5-16-2012
Upper McCloud River fly fishing is near perfect according to a Shasta Trout guide report
5-16-2012
Craig Nielsen
A few of us have been exploring some local creeks and tributaries in the shadow of Shasta and have found them to be dropping into great shape. Craig fished the Upper McCloud a couple days this week and it is near perfect! There are some good sized wild Rainbows still to be found along with plentiful fish plants in the Falls and Fowler's Campground areas for those so inclined.
Springtime on the Upper McCloud River McCloud Redband Rainbow Fish are mostly taking nymphs as hatches are still quite sparse with the big spring hatches still not yet underway. Some small mayflies and caddis are finding most of the action with an attractor dry and rubberlegs finding a few fish as well.
We expect the fishing in the coming weeks to be spectacular! To check on the latest conditions or to schedule a great local guide, just drop us a line.
