Lake Oroville Tournament

The largest locally-run bass tournament of the year on Lake Oroville is the "Sharon Hibdon Memorial Tournament", named for the longtime Chico Bass Club secretary who recently passed away. This year's event will take place at the Spillway Launch on Sunday, April 29. Entry fee is $80 per two person team, and includes a barbecue dinner and big fish option. Payback is 20 places or one in five, with three places for Big Fish. Live well checks will be required, the slot waiver is in effect, and the lake is open to pre-fish.

Entry forms are available at local tackle shops, or by calling 872-0407. Late sign-ups will be taken starting at 3:30 AM on tournament day, with blast-off at safe light. Blast off will be in order of sign-up. The event is conducted by the Chico Bass Club. Funds raised go toward the club's activities, including the Lake Oroville Florida-strain Bass Stocking Project, which is the only warm water species fish plant done in the lake. Funds also go to Chico's "Hooked on Fishing" kid's event, Gridley's Kid's Fishing Day, and fishing line recycling projects at Horseshoe Lake and Paradise Lake.
