Trout fishing slowed a bit this week, but limits were still available for those who put in the time and effort. Reportedly the best action was in Santa Cruz Bay, trolling CD5 and 7 Rapalas. Shore anglers picked up a few fish in Harveys and E point, the best bait being nightcrawlers. The lake will be receiving a 4,500 lb. plant of Nebraska "tail walkers" Wednesday April 4th, and an additional 4,000 lbs. from the Calaveras hatchery April 13, just prior to the annual trout derby.

Bass fishing has been fair to good on spinnerbaits, jigs, cranks, and all types of plastics in 2' to 10' of water in most areas of the lake. Crappie went on the chew early in the week with the warmer water temperatures, but the last cold front put them back in lock jaw mode. The narrows and Cachuma Bay were said to be the most productive areas for the slabs. Bow fishing was good in the AM in the narrows prior to the cold front and carp to 12 lbs. were taken.
