3-23-2012
Lake Morena Staff
Lake Conditions: Surface temp.55.0 and 49.7 @ 20 ft.
Water visibility: Is still clearing to 3' to 5'
. ** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.
Trout: Confidential information has leaked out that Paradise cove and Geezer Cove have been the hot spots for limits and trophy trout. Bucking this trend is Robert and Irene Clark, photo #2 from Campo who trolled their way to their limits using nightcrawlers. This leak has reached as far as Spring Valley as Roy Yourczek, photo #1 yanked an 8 lb 12oz rainbow from the weeds with Peach powerbait at Geezer cove. John and Hank Arps, photo #3 from Lakeside both limited for a total of 12lbs 4oz in Paradise cove with peach and green powerbait. Saving the best for last is Roy Rose, pictured above from San Diego and his 10lb 8oz beauty trolling the middle of the lake. But remember 'Mum's the word'.
Bass: No action on Bass reported this week.
Carp: Still splashing, they like corn and corn meal balls.
Blue Gill: No action on the Blue Gill here lately.
Crappie: No sign of Crappie this time of year.
Catfish: Nothing reported this week.
