Mark will be highlighting Southern California trout streams including the following: Piru Creek, East and West Forks of the San Gabriel River, San Antonio Creek, Deep Creek and Bear Creek. Also covered will be insect populations that you can expect to find on each waterway along with fly selections, equipment, and productive techniques pertaining to each. Mark will also display maps and offer suggestions as to the best times of year to head to these fisheries.
Mark grew up in Michigan, and started fishing with his grandfather in the Great Lakes, and rivers and streams in the area. He also learned to fish the small streams around Greenfield, Massachusetts with his father. While hiking in the High Sierras near Donner Pass, he was introduced to fly fishing by his pal Tim Poole. After several fits and starts, he gave up the spoons completely in 1999. He is an active member of his local fly fishing club, and has been fishing the local mountains and the Sierra Nevada range for the past 13 years.
