In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The trout fishing was brisk early in the week but has since slowed. Brandi Eberson, pictured above of Temecula had the largest trout of the past week at 10.85#s caught in Boat Dock Cove on powerbait. In addition, Hector Enriquez caught a 9.15# trout on a nightcrawler in Willow Cove. Other notable catches include: Richard Fridell's 6.75#, Garrett Sach's 6.35#, David Martinez's 5.90# and Stephen Casteel's 4.15# trout. Powerbaits & powerworms (greens and yellows) along with inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.

It appears as if the bass are beginning to stir Richard Fridell, shown in photo #1 of Escondido caught and released an 8.50# largemouth on Saturday using swimbait at Bass Point. The next day he returned and his nephew Larry Fridell caught and released a 4.80# bass on a crawdad in Boat Dock Cove. Bass can be found around structure and bite in the early mornings and late afternoons.

The spring like conditions have ushered in an early emergence for the Crappie, which have been appearing pre-dawn in small numbers. Crappie prefer the cover of rocks or submerged willows in which to hide and are receptive to finger jigs and live golden shiners.
