"Our day started off with a few nice fish right away at gray light," said the report from Intrepid December 14, "then settled into a slow pick for most of the day. Around two pm this afternoon things went off for us as we had a ripper bite on Tuna from 140 on up to 200 pounds. It was very exciting with the kite going full speed and the fly-lined sardine counting for most of the hook-ups. We have not had a bite like that for a while. In three hours we boated 31 fish, all over 100 pounds, with most of them in the 140 to 180-pound range and a couple over 200 pounds.

"New personal bests went to Bruce Saurer, Dave Henderson and Craig Sauter, the hot stick of the trip, boating 11 Tuna between 100 to 180 pounds so far. We didn't get many photos during the bite as we were all very busy keeping up with things and getting the fish in the hold ASAP. We lost a few to the toothy critters and one Jumbo that was determined to live on, breaking off Dave Brewer some 400 yards out."
