Surfer turns Fly Fisherman, gets a lesson on the Truckee
11-9-2011
Matt Koles
I got an email from a dude the other day that told me he quit the world of competitive surfing so he can devote his time to fly fishing. He just wanted to learn a few more things and try to hook some nice fish. Not that he didn't enjoy surfing anymore, but he was over the whole scene.
I thought rad, I'll hook this kid up with some knowledge, and he'll take it the rest of the way. See, I understood where he was coming from, once you get the stoke for fly fishing all you want is more and more. We spent two days out on the Truckee and roped us some Trouts. Look for Jack guiding on some of the finer Big Sky waters in the near future, but first a little taste of what the Truckee River can offer.
