The Chico Chapter of the California Waterfowl Association will hold its twenty-fifth annual fundraising banquet starting at 5:30 PM on Nov. 19 at the Elk's Lodge on Manzanita Avenue in Chico. The first hour will feature a hosted bar, and the New York steak and prawn dinner is served up by Silver Sage Catering.

A great assortment of raffle and auction prizes will include fine sporting arms, wildlife-themed art, and more. A very special raffle will be held for a Winchester Super X-2 shotgun. Al youths in attendance will also receive a prize.

Tickets are $100 single, $110 couple, $45 CWA life members, and $35 youth. Tickets are available at the Tackle Box in Chico, or by calling 891-0772.

The rush of opening weekend for Irvine Lake's trout season is now past, and the fishing just keeps getting better, reported General Manager Dave Noyes. Irvine Lake will be closed to the public for 4 days this week, from Monday Oct. 31 to Thursday Nov. 3, to stock the lake with some 20,000 pounds of trout, and prepare for the 2011 Trout Season Opener on Friday, Nov. 4.
