The first Albacore report is here. There are some fish being caught of Avila near the Donut. There is a party boat with 18 fish and they have lost some also. There is a sport boat in the same area that has 13 fish this today. This is a good sign that we will have Albacore in Santa Cruz around July. Get your gear ready!
So far the boats fishing Salmon have 0-3 fish near the Black Buoy around 36'50/121'53. There were some anglers who caught limits early near the Black Buoy trolling deep in 240 feet of water. The 36'50/121'54 area was good and there were some big fish caught in the Soquel Hole. The best bite at the Hole was at 36'51/121'57 and some of the fish were only 50 feet down while others were 120-200 feet down. The wind was down all morning so it was a nice day on the water. There were a few Halibut caught in front of the Harbor and in Capitola in 50-60 feet of water. The Rockcod continues to be good on the local reefs.

The Salmon bite is still going decent for the few anglers who were fishing near the Black Buoy at 36'50/121'53. I fished that area to 36'48/121'52 and ended up with 4 nice Salmon. We caught out fish on Gold Tom Mack Spoons, Blue Kajikis, and Krippled Anchovies. Most of our bites were 175 feet down but we did get a few fish down 30-60 feet too. There were a few other boats that were out there early who had...... Read More
