Bill Roecker
Norm Kagawa docked Shogun at Fisherman's Landing October 25 after a very good five-day trip with 23 anglers. "We fished at Benitos and offshore," he told dock reporter Bill Roecker. "Benitos was great for near-limits of yellowtail. They bit the jigs very well. I tried Matt's new 6X in pink glow and it was killer. We had very good yellowfin and bluefin fishing with dorado at 160 miles or so down." Another angler on the boat reported catching all his yellowtail on the new pink lady Salas 6X Jr. jig.
Jesse Cassotta of Rocklin won first place for his 26.2-pound yellowtail. He said he got it with a blue and white 6X jig and a 40-pound rental outfit, in about five minutes.
Jesse's father Dave Cassota of Rocklin won second place for a 25.6-pound yellowtail, in a tie with Andy Carroll of Bandon, OR, who had a yellowtail of the same weight.
