Fish report - June 18th

David Bacon

The summer season has arrived, heralding great fishing options. We're catching calico bass and white seabass at the edge of kelp beds both along the mainland coast and at the Channel Islands. Thresher sharks are foraging along the mainland from Carpinteria to Gaviota, with the average shark going 80 to 100 pounds. Yellowtail are showing up sporadically on the backs side of Anacapa and Santa Cruz Islands. The western end of the Channel Islands chain is kicking out limits of high-quality rockfish with some good size "lingausar" mixed in.
