Cedros Skiff Trip
6-16-2007
Bill Roecker
Qualifier 105 returned to Pt. Loma Sportfishing June 16 after a seven-day trip with skipper Joe Crisci. The boat took skiffs for bassers to fish the islands, and visited Cedros, Benitos and Chesters Rock, said Crisci. It was a Fishtrap expedition with owner Barry Brightenburg along as chartermaster.
"We had real nice weather," remarked skipper Crisci, "with the water in the mid-60's at the islands and very good fishing for bass and yellowtail."
There was no jackpot of the trip, but the biggest bass was a nine-pound, 15-ounce lunker caught and released by John Flannagan of New Jersey. He got his whopper calico on a Fishtrap Rock Hopper six and a half-inch plastic swim bait, a motor oil and red flake model, said Brightenburg.
"It was my best bass ever," remarked Flannagan.
