9.45 lb. Bass caught at Lake Wohlford

9-10-2011
Wohlford Lake Staff

Bass fishing has been very good as of late. Sam Bush of Carlsbad caught and released a 9.45# bass on Saturday near the west buoys using a gold colored senko. Bass can be found near rock piles especially in the morning and late afternoons. Dark colored plastics do particularly well.

Catfish are still being caught mostly at the east end of the lake. Stop by the ranger station for a doughbait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in 4 categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For further information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
