Superb Fishing at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo

What a difference a week can make. Captain Temo Verboonen reported an incredible contrast in the fishing from one week to the next and this past week sounds like the one that anglers wait for. He reported superb fishing for dorado with easy limit results and opportunities for numerous catch and releases on fish that were eager to chew on anything that went in the water, including any lures and any colors, strip bait, live bait, it just didn't make any difference. If they could get their mouth around it, they ate it.

Also, the sailfish bite was also in the excellent mode and they were also being very cooperative and eager to bite on the rigged baits, the live baits and the artificials, too. According to Temo, the only lack of action was the numbers of anglers in the area were severely lacking again through this past week, albeit, somewhat typical for this time of year. The inshore fishing has been almost non-existent due to the rough seas and wave conditions. All in all, it was a 100% turn-around from the report for the prior week's effort.

IZ Climate:
Mostly cloudy with PM rains and scattered thunder showers. Temps from 72 nights to 86 daytime highs and humid.

Sea Conditions:
Heavy inshore surf conditions ruling out much of the inshore fishing opportunities. Offshore is a little bumpy but very fishable with stable temps at 84-85 degrees and good blue water at about 12 miles or so.

Best Fishing Area:
Dorado are everywhere and abundant, offering easy limit style fishing. Sailfish action very good at about 12 miles with multiple hookups available.

Best Lure/Bait:
Dorado eager on everything that moves through the water. Sailfish eager on rigged baits, live bait and artificials.

Bait Supply:
Continues to be readily available on a daily basis for both live and dead baits.
