Today we experienced plenty of frustration and glory. Starting with the frustrating part well I guess it would start at 0300 in the morning with a school of good ones getting on us and when we got the opportunity to utilize it, we lost the bulk of what we hooked. We managed 15 yellowfin from 120 to 290 pounds and three of those were over 200 pounds and a few in the 190's. Our late morning was slow with just a few wahoo for the effort and around 1330 we started to get some current and we started hooking fish. This time the fish were a little smaller on the average with the bulk being 100 to 140 pound fish with a couple of 190 to 220 pound fish mixed in. So from 0300 until dinner we had 27 yellowfin and 5 wahoo. After dinner is when the real glory came to us. Free swimmers in the lights, big ones. 175 to 250 pound yellowfin wanting to play so we did like any respectable angler did, we played. The first fish was a 246 for John Chambers, then a 210 for Harry Klauher, a 225 for Mike Abovsky who also got a 210 on his second drop,Bob Dawson who got a 243, and a 230 on chunks, 194 for Dan Felger,192 for Bill Lynd, Phil Ruemmler had a 227 kamazi to the boat, Sam Cornell picked up a 198 pounder on a chunk, John Van Deventer a 220. How about back to back 240 pounders for David Smith, 243 for John Mahany, Stan Evans 217 pounder, and Vince Otani with a 188. These are just the ones we had a chance to tape out but we had 30 of these quality yellowfin through out the entire night until 0500 this morning of the 31st and 12 to 14 are over 200 pounds. We are going to hope for the same results for our day tomorrow. We will send pictures later when we have a better signal on the sat phone
