Is Spectacular Fishing Ahead?
8-7-2011
Bill Cavanaugh - Pacific Dawn
Hello Pacific Queen Anglers,
Offshore fishing is starting to heat up. We had two 1.5 day trips this last week. Both trips returned with nice catches on yellowtail, dorodo, blue fin tuna, and yellow fin tuna. Most of this fish has been caught off of kelp paddies. The yellowtail fishing is incredible and very reminiscent of a couple of years ago. They range from 15-20 pounds with some bigger stand outs. What makes this kind of fishing so fun is that you can stop on a kelp paddy and potentially catch all four species. We had one kelp this week where we picked up 41 yellowtail, 7 dorodo, and 7 blue fin tuna. Unfortunately we had windy conditions all week which made it harder to work, but the weather outlook looks very good for next week. We really feel that with a little break in the weather we could have some spectacular fishing.
We have a couple of 1.5 trips scheduled next week which will get you down to these fruitful grounds. Tuesday night we leave on a trip sponsored by f3g a local non-profit. This trip will have some workers from some of the biggest local charities on board who will donate their entire catch. This trip leaves Tuesday night and is open to the public. All anglers will have the opportunity to donate their catch but are by no means obligated to. If you want to get on this trip call Fisherman's Landing and get signed up.
We have another 1.5 day trip leaving Wednesday night. Our trips are starting to book up and with the fishing we have in store for the next couple of weeks you don't want to miss out. Call Fisherman's Landing at 619-221-8500 or sign up on our website.
