"We had some more quality tuna and yellowtail come aboard today," said the report from Searcher August 1. "Not as many as yesterday; 12 yellowfin tuna and 9 yellowtail were landed. Conditions were completely different today with very little current all day so it made for tough fishing. We saw a fair amount of fish boiling around but it was really hard to get a bite.
"Our totals for our first Guadalupe trip are 31 yellowfin tuna averaging 50 pounds, and 44 yellowtail averaging around 25 pounds. There are a few stand-outs in both categories will find out how big they are when we return to San Diego.
"Our plan for tomorrow is to head north tonight and fish offshore for yellowtail and hopefully a bluefin or yellowfin tuna as well."
