Happy New Year Anglers,
Today we started in the same area that we caught that bigger tuna
yesterday. As soon as the sky got gray we started to get gray we started to
hook fish. This was the same size tuna that we saw yesterday. Most of the
fish were 50 to 90 pounds and a few bigger. We landed seven fish over a 100
pounds including a 120, 135, 150 160 and a 165. All the fish were taken on
sardines and 80 pound line. Our total count for the morning was 27 tuna .We
looked for that school for about a hour after the bite ended but were unable
to find them again.
We headed towards the Thetes Bank from there and found a temperature break that had some small tuna and marlin in it. At around 4:30PM we anchored up on the Thetes until dark and only caught a handful of yellowtail. Tonight we are going to make our way to Hippolito Bay to try for yellowtail. The first picture that I am sending you all is of a few of the bigger tuna we got today. The second is of a few anglers with our biggest fish of the day. From left to right you have Paul Stimson, Bob Burlson,Van Zollweg Jim Dana and Capt. Shawn Steward holding Jim Dana's second fish.
