Hello Anglers,

We awoke to pretty nice weather today at Benitos Island. The majority of the morning was spent fishing bird schools around the north end of the island. The first few stops on the birds we ended up picking 25 to 35 yellowtail a stop until around noon where we started to see the birds move closer to the island. When we moved in closer we did a few drifts along the kelps and picked away at a some nice yellowtail from 25 to 38 pounds. There was good surface iron action along the kelps which made for a good show for all of us when the yellows were chasing baits and the casting jigs on the surface. The late afternoon was a little slower for us but we did have a good flurry on big yellows which we caught mostly on the dropper loops and a few on the yo-yo jigs. Those fish were a 25 pound average with a few 30 to 35 pound fish mixed in. For the last hour of daylight we anchored up along the kelp to try for a seabass and calico bass and we caught and released a couple of handfuls of calicos and landed a few more yellowtail. Tomorrow we are going to be looking for albacore and bluefin off shore so we will check in tomorrow. Wish us luck and enjoy the pictures Reported by: Shawn Steward

We stopped on three different spots of bluefin through out the day and had one that boiled up really good but we ended up with no bluefin out of the three spots we tried. For the day we ended up with 36...... Read More
