Hello Anglers,
Beautiful weather today here at the islands of Cedros and Benitos. We caught a couple of tanks of mackerel last night in hopes of catching some bigger yellowtail today on them. The area around the south end of Cedros was dirty cold water so we ran to Benitos and arrived there at 1300.We stopped on a nice bird school outside the island and made two drifts for 53 yellows from 17 to 25 pounds. The birds and fish seemed to thin out after a couple of drifts so we got anchored up at the island. Finally we got the opportunity to put our mackerel to use on some 25 to 35 pound yellows. We just had a slow bite on the big yellows until about 1800 hours when they finally stopped biting. We had dinner at the island and then ran out offshore to look for bluefin. The picture that we are sending is of John Carnett with a 28 pound yellowtail he caught on a mackerel on a dropper loop.Wish us luck Reported by Shawn Steward and the crew
