Hello Anglers,

Today we had great weather and a good day of catching quality fish. Our yellowtail were all in the 22 to 40 pound class with most of them being a 28 to 30 pound average.The yellowfin were all very good size with the fish ranging from 40 to 125 pounds with 5 or 6 in the 20 to 35 pound class. For the day we had 27 yellowtail and 31 yellowfin and 6 of the yellowfin are over 100 pounds. There was not much action on the kite today but tomorrow is another day. For those of you on up and coming trips bring a couple of heavier outfits. The recommended gear for the yellowfin here is a castable 50 or 60 pound outfit with a heavy seven foot rod and a 8\0 eagle claw circle hook and sometimes we can get bit on 80 pound line as well. For the yellowtail the yo-yo jigs are doing well with the usual colors working the best, scrambled egg, blue and white and Dorado colors in the Salas 6X or Tady 4\0 size and dont forget the 12 and 16 ounce torpedo sinkers and 8\0 size live bait hooks. The first picture that I am sending is of Diane Chambers with a couple of morning yellowtail. The second is of Michelle Farid with a 90 pound yellowfin she caught on a sardine and 50 pound on the new Penn Baja special 4\0 that we are feild testing. and next is a 90 pound yellowfin for George Heiland being brought over by crewmembers Mike Ramirez and Mike Riddell.
