Hello Anglers,

Well if you heard a few rumors about some 200 pounder's, they are true. With a helpful tip from the boys on the American Angler we headed out to an area that had good bird and bait life. We had the kind of showing and bite on big fish that we can only dream of on most 16 day or longer trips and we accomplished it on a 10 day trip. I don't think that I can put into words what we saw today but here we go. Looking around offshore for anything that wanted to bite we saw a sonar school of fish that was as impressive as I have ever seen. We got around on it and all hell broke loose. The first few fish to come out of the water were the small one's, 120 to 150 pound yellowfin. After that as I walked to the stern, a 275 pound yellowfin jumped eye level with me fifteen feet away from the boat. That was the beginning of many fish from 100 to 300 pounds clearing the surface of the water putting on a great show. For over an hour the fish stuck with us swimming through the corner like we were not even there.I want to say we hooked roughly 30 fish to get the 18 that we landed. We had eleven fish going at one time in the bow and I must say, for a group who have never been exposed to this kind of big fish, they did a hell of a job staying in front of there fish and working with each other. Only a couple of fish were lost due to tangles, the rest were either having the hooks pull on the fish or the fish chewed through the line. We had a couple of 90 pound fish but the majority was 130 to 175 and our top seven fish that we taped out were : Charles Carlson with a 176 pound Yellowfin Miles Yamaguchi with a 195.5 pound Yellowfin Sam Carrasco with a 199.5 pound Yellowfin Mark Scott with a 204 pound Yellowfin Steve Mendonca with a 206 pound Yellowfin Greg Mendonca with a 211.7 pound Yellowfin Robert Zane with a 246 pound yellowfin There was a couple of real heartbreaks as can be expected one was for Paul Stimson who lost a fish that was over 250 , it chewed through the 300 pound leader after 2 hours of battle and Kent Cremolini lost one that was around the 200 pound mark as well after the line parted. The sign we saw today was very good and very encouraging for our future fall and winter trips.For those of you looking to get a big fish and are not on a future trip I suggest you find an opening on one of the boats and come get some.
