Hello Anglers,
Today was another hot and sunny day out here on the "Hurricane Bank" with almost no wind and some good fishing to go with it. The tuna were on the tough side but the wahoo made up for them by biting very well today. We ended up with 65 wahoo for the day and the way that we caught these was what was special. Most of the wahoo came on the surface iron and chunks on wire leaders. It was not uncommon to have three or more wahoo follow the jigs back to the boat. Our big tuna award goes to Bob Orth with a yellowfin that taped out at 264 pounds he got by himself on the Yummee Flyer from Carolina Lures. The fish inhaled the flyer and when he came aboard you could see he had been eating well, he was extremely girthy. We hope to have a better report on the tuna tomorrow so we will check in then.
The Aloha Spirit runs 5 AM trips out of CISCOs in Oxnard. We target White Seabass, Calico Bass, Yellowtail and Halibut when available. We also will run Rockfish and Lingcod Specials. Call CISCOs at (805) 382-1612 or BOOK ONLINE.
