Kokanees are on the bite at New Melonees Lake
6-13-2011
Bruce Hamby
Kokanee bite is wide open! Good areas to try are Glory Hole Point, Black Bark Cove, the spillway to the dam. The 15 to 16 inch Kok's are suspended down 30 to 40 feet deep. We've been using Vance's Hoochies, R&K Hoochies, Uncle Larry's spinners behind Vance's nickel or copper dodgers. Try marinating your corn in Pro Cure Garlic Plus, fresh water shrimp or Thread Fin Shad oil. >BR>
Lake level is rising. Surface temperature is 66 degree.
The photo shows the "Group of Seven". Jeremy Clark of San Francisco, Loren Williams of Rocklin, Charlie St. Clair, Alex Carlson, Pete Mc Connell, and Greg and AJ from San Mateo had a great time catching limits of 35 Kokanee.
Special "Thanks" to Danny Lane for helping me out with this group.
