PACIFIC DAWN: HOT HOT 2011 ROCKCOD OPENER
I had the opportunity to fish the first day of Rockcod fishing aboard the famous Pacific Dawn. By the way, it was also the grand opening day for the Ventura Sportfishing Landing, complete with tackle shop. We had a full tank of live squid. I already knew that we were going to have a good time. We traveled the night towards Santa Rosa Island. The crew fished for more live squid at the island. At the crack of dawn, we started fishing and brought fish in like there was no tomorrow. We loaded our sacks. Before noon, we had reached our limits. Captain Pat took us to the shallow waters and searched for Whitefish and Sheephead. We didn't catch as many but they were all huge. As matter of fact, I caught a 12 lb, 11 oz Sheephead and won the jackpot! What a great day! I would like to thank Captain Pat Cavanaugh and the crew for all the extra efforts placed in just to give us an awesome memorable day on the water. I would like to thank our gorgeous & beautiful chef, Whitney for fixing us those delicious food all day long and also "Mad Dog" Celebrity Mike and Derrick for such a superb job. Our fish total for the day: 7 Ocean Whitefish, 8 California Sheephead, 180 Rockfish, 1 Rock Sole, 1 Calico Bass. Overall Pacific Dawn will always be one of my favorite boats. Check out their website for their open party trips at http://www.pacificdawn.com or call Ventura Sportfishing at (805)676-3474 for more information. We still have lots of opening on our SFR charter trips.
