Met up with a bunch of the long range guys today on the way up to the Smith River to fish with Smiling Salmon Guide Service. The event was the big Sacramento sports show at Cal Expo.

Nor Cal is a different state of mind -- saw Jerry Brown this morning and also saw a dad and his son wearing camo shirts and hats heading into the show.

Stopped by the DFG booth, where they were selling the new licenses. Partner Chad Woods shows off his necktie-style. This what happens if you add any kind of stamps or cards -- like the steelhead card we'll need for the Smith.

Overall there was a good turnout for the show and Dennis Yamamoto was selling a fair amount of Owner hooks.

The NorCal folks like the tuna fishing -- I saw couples I recognized from the Tuna Jackpot and dudes I remembered from 3 to 12-day trips.

It's a small world that way. And everyone in it that I know does not like California's new license. All this time and this is what they came up with. You can't sit on it without throwing out your back. Oh well. We head up the coast tomorrow. More later.
