Shogun Sportfishing Trip Update (101410)

It was good yellowtail fishing for us on the 14 to 22 pound grade. Most of the a.m. fish came near the bottom on Salas 6X jr. in a variety of colors or sliding sinker rigs. In the afternoon the Yellows came up to the surface and it was game on the surface iron with, no lie, the Python was hot.

In the past few trips we have been using the Seeker Hercules rods to a great extent coupled with Accurate Boss two-speeds. They are fun to use, light in weight and what I believe to be the future of things to come in sport fishing. We have maxed out a couple of the lighter models the 70M and 60H, on 70 to 80 pound Yellowfin Tuna, but if you go up in size to the 70H and 60XH we found that these heavier blanks will handle the bigger grade of Yellowfin. The 70M is an outstanding 30 pound outfit(what the west coaster would recognize as a 30 pound outfit) and coupled with a Accurate BX2 500 narrow is my favorite rod, reel combo to fish with for Yellows of all sizes and Tuna up to 50 pounds. This should be a fun light outfit for Wahoo later in the season while sitting on the anchor at the Hurricane.
