Shogun Sportfishing Trip Update (100410)

LITTLE WAHOO FISHING (100410)!!! This morning started off with the Shogun stopping on a giant kelp paddy that was loaded with Dorado. Since we already have collected what we needed, we proceeded to conventional tag some of these fish before moving on. Next stop was along the ridge where we found just what we were looking for, small Yellowfin. After three drifts over the hot spot we had collected what we needed. It was a good show throughout the morning. Since we are on the ridge and had some time on our side, we decided to do a little Wahoo fishing. It was good. They wanted the surface iron and I was stoked to get a couple on the spectra to wire connection, the problem I came across today was straightening hooks. If you are going to fish this way for Wahoo, I strongly suggest that you replace the stock trebles with Owner 3X strong trebles. The only thing better than getting a 40 pound Yellowtail on the surface iron is getting a 50 pound Wahoo on the surface iron, especially when the big skinny eats the plug ten feet off the stern. Now that's fun. Big Fish Happen, Bruce A. Smith
