Lake Sabrina Fishing Report

Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff
Dead calm this Sunday morning and so many colors - yellows - oranges - golds - reds - around the shore and then reflected in the lake. Not only is the scenery spectacular, but the weather - gorgeous blue skies (the smoke finally cleared out), light breezes. Highs this weekend were in the low 70s and the lows in the low 50s. Most anglers out on the lake came in with limits. And here's what they were using. Fishing the Inlets with NightCrawlers, PowerBait, Salmon Eggs or Jigs. Trolling flashers and a NightCrawler, or just a Thomas Buoyants, or WoolyBuggers, or NightCrawler. Drifting the rock piles with PowerBait or NightCrawlers. Shore fishing with NightCrawlers, PowerBait or Salmon Eggs. Taylor Kleveno of Riverside landed a nice 2-1/4 pound Rainbow on a custom lure. And once again we thank the Department of Fish and Game for stocking the lake last Wednesday with another very nice load of fish.

It's an Indian summer in the high country - looks like the highs for this week will be in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s. The campgrounds tend to be a bit cooler as the chilly air settles in the pockets down by the streams. It's very strange how the same temp feels a whole lot colder when that fall nip arrives. You can check www.weather.gov and enter Aspendell, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard at www.MammothWeather.com
The following USFS campgrounds are closed - North Lake, Sabrina Camp, Mountain Glen and Willow. There is a full hook-up RV campground - Creekside RV park which is on the road to South Lake. We'll try and keep you updated on the campground closings. The open campgrounds are Bishop Park, Intake II, Big Trees, BitterBush, Forks and Four Jeffery. Remember your polarized dark glasses and sunscreen. Wash your hands after you applied sunscreen, bug juice or any other fu-fu juice. Only a few more weeks till Lake Sabrina Boat Landing closes up shop for another season depending on the weather. Fishing season ends November 15, 2010. The Lake Sabrina crew looks forward to seeing you.
