Bait

9-14-2010
Bill Cavanaugh - Pacific Dawn

Hi everyone, We picked up a beautiful load of bait this morning from Mark and Paul with San Pedro Bait Company. 150 scoops of perfect sized anchovie which we loaded right out of the net and should cure just fine in our tanks. Wow! I just now looked out the window and saw a blue whale fluke with Catalina island inland in the back ground...awesome! We have great weather and will be spending the day preparing tackle. We will be able to fish albacore all day tomorrow. With the bait we have on board I would recommend fishing a #1 or #2 live bait hook and a short flourocarbon leader on 20, 25, or 30 pound test line. Also, have at least one 40 or 50 pound outfit with a # 2/0 hook standing by in case we get on a spot of fish that want to bite good. A side note.. I just spoke with Sal, from the Pacific Horizon, this morning and he told me that with that good fishing they had yesterday they never even threw chum. The last outfit to have would be a 40 pound outfit with a P-Line laser minnow in a 3oz. or 4oz. size in a sardine or anchovie pattern, central coast albacore love those jigs. More later...Bill Cavanaugh
