Ebbetts Pass is now open. Still no reports of fishing in the high country.
The fishing along the hwy 4 corridor has been excellent. With recent trout plants at Alpine, No. Fork of the Stanislaus, Beaver Creek, and White Pines this should be a productive Memorial weekend.
The road to Spicer is now open. The docks are still out of the water as the water level is still low. The trollers have been doing excellent using Apex lures tipped with a nightcrawler behind a small dodger. Baitcasters have been doing well using the new Gulp Power Bait, Power Eggs, and Gulp Worms. Inflated nightcrawlers have also been producing some nice fish. Lure casters try Kastmasters and Rapalas. Hobart Creek is closed until July 1, 2007.
The No. Fork of the Stanislaus is still at a perfect level for fishing. Baitcasters try split-shotting inflated nightcrawlers, salmon eggs, Power Eggs, and the new Gulp Power Bait, and crickets with a 15" to 20" leader. Lure casters have success using Rapalas, Kastmasters, and Panther Martin spinners. Fly casters should try nymphs, stimulators, ants, and woolly buggers.
White Pines Lake in Arnold has been producing some nice fish. Baitcasters have the best luck using the new Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Worms, Power Eggs, and inflated nightcrawlers either on the bottom or under a bobber. Fly casters should try wooly buggers, ants, and mosquitoes.
Lake Alpine is still producing some big fish. Baitcasters have been doing well using inflated nightcrawlers, the new Gulp Power Bait, Power Eggs. Lure casters should try Rapalas and Kastmasters. Fly casters should use woolly buggers. Troller have had some success using Apex Lures tipped with a nightcrawler behind a small dodger. The Ranger Station at Alpine will be open Memorial weekend. The campgrounds at Alpine are scheduled to be open by this Friday May 25. 2007 along with Alpine Lodge.
