Puerto Morelos Fishing Report

8-5-2010
Larry Edwards

Only a ten fish variety is reflected this week for the Puerto Morelos area from the Marina El Cid, but for the first time, we have a couple of new critters that showed up with two rainbow runners. Overall, the catching was slower this week than it had been for sometime, but I think it was just a sooner or later thing that does happen with fishing. The overall combined fish report for a total of 12 fishing days reflected 8 dorado, 31 bonito, 8 Atlantic barracuda, 2 jack cravelle, 2 yellowfin tuna, 3 Spanish mackerel, 2 rainbow runners, 1 grouper, 3 snapper and 4 triggerfish.

PM Climate: Partly cloudy conditions with intermittent sunshine, a little humid and some scattered PM rains.

Sea Conditions: Temps at 86 throughout the area and ultra clear, with light surface breezes at 5-10 knots from the east.

Best Lure/Bait: Par usual for this are, the ballyhoo, both rigged baits and un-rigged baits, continue to be the hot item for all of the fish, surface and bottom.

Bait Supply: An excellent supply continues to be available.
