Fish Report for 7-23-2010
Large Mass of Bluefin ... but not biting.

The fishing has been pretty up and down recently. The albacore have really been making us work. We made a few good catches on both albacore and bft over the last week.
On our two day trip we came in with 79 albacore, 17bft, and 2 yellowtail for our 13 anglers. We ran with a light load and had a great group of guys on the boat. The weather was good and the fishing was even better. The fish were a beautiful grade, 18-25lbs, with our jackpot fish going to Sean Collins of Seal Beach with a 30lbs bft.
We were not as successful on our 1.5 day however we saw an incredible mass of fish. Most of what we saw was bft and it just wasn't on the bite. It was incredible to see such large schools foaming down the sides of the boat with no interest in a live anchovy or sardine. Even though we had tough fishing the weather and the camaraderie of the group made for an excellent day out on the water. It made us all realize that it isn't just about how much you catch but more about the overall adventure.
