Pardee Lake Fishing Report
7-9-2010
Fred Dorman
The Lake is no longer cascading over the spillway and actually looks to have dropped to two feet below spill. Current water temperatures are unchanged from last report, 59 degrees at 20 feet and 67 at surface look for these temps to warm a bit with the predicted temperatures for next week. Water clarity is good to 20 feet plus. The Marina reports the banks have been quiet throughout the week with few anglers to report on. There are additional plants scheduled and the most productive spots will be crowded again. Try behind the Ebay boathouse, the "mud hole lagoon", Porcupine point, the Launch ramp and TomSawyerIsland. The planters usually end up in the cove behind the Marina, Blue Herron Point, and the parking lot bank behind TomSawyerIsland. Night crawlers, pink power worms and green power bait are the hot baits, with wooly boogers and Kastmasters good right after the plant. Silver/blue Kastmasters are almost always successful.
Lots of boats working the buoy line in the South end this morning the Dam face and the Mouth of the River. Trout remain a bit illusive. Some Trollers continue fishing the River starting at the Mouth and going up as far as Indian Rock. Try the River arm and near Twin Coves for Kokes. Lots of fish in the 10 to 12 inch size, they are plentiful and quick to bite; they have dropped down a little and are now at 40 to 50 feet. Small spoon or needlefish type lures in pink or florescent orange/red tipped with a night crawler, grub or power worm behind small flashers, dodgers or sidekicks in silver/green work well. Kokanee still prefer scented white corn. No Browns reported this report but there may be a few left around the dam face and the rock wall. California Department of Fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs of fish in addition Pardee Lake Inc has planted 39,000 lbs of trout as of today with more plants scheduled. Huy Tran of Elk Grove got this respectable Large Mouth Bass weighing in at 9.96 lbs at an unknown location using worms. Congratulations!
