New Hogan Fishing Report

6-20-2010
Bruce Hamby

Stripper action is starting to heat up. On this week outing we found the line sides schooling up in the main lake areas. There appetite seems to be for anchovies, however we did catch some on shad injected with Pro-Cure anchovies scent. Artificial swim bait produced a few, but with no consistency. The target depths early morning was 15 to 20 feet, later in the day 20 to 40 feet deep. Warren Cooper of Elk Grove long time client climbed aboard for a day on the lake. Warren had never fished Hogan's, but had fished for strippers in the delta. Warren had a blast battling fish after fish 3 to 8 pounds on a 2 to 6 pound test Kokanee rod. Before the day was over we had caught 14, kept 7, lost 3, and threw 4 back, mainly because we ran out of room in the ice chest! Water conditions are clear and water temperature is 75 degrees.
