Lake Sabrina Fishing Report

5-31-2010
Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff

After the cold temps of the last few weeks, and snow flurries at least 3 days out of every week we've been opened, Memorial Weekend was gorgeous. Warmer temps mean the run-off has begun and with the run-off starting that means there's boats on the Lake. Lot of people enjoying Mule Days in Bishop and I think after the parade most of them headed for the lake as they did on Sunday - and stringers of fish were seen leaving. Craig & Mo Turner of Foothill Ranch brought in enough for dinner and Julie Zuniga of Ventura caught her first limit, but the fish of the week was landed by Brown-Bagger and local Bishop resident George Kirby - a beautiful 2-1/2lb Brown! Most of the fish were caught from shore using Salmon Eggs or NightCrawlers. George enticed his 2-1/2 pound brown with an AC Plug from shore.

The temps are forecast to climb over the next few days and into the weekend - Lake temps are in the mid to low 60s and lows in the low 30s until a low passes thru and then into the low 40s. You can check www.weather.gov and enter Aspendell, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard at www.MammothWeather.com. I made an error in the campground schedule - North Lake campground is not yet opened. The price this year to camp at the Forestry campgrounds are $21.00. The only USFS campground that accepts reservations is Four Jeffery. There 31 sites available for reservations: you can book on-line at www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. All other campsites at Four Jeffery and the other campgrounds are first come, first served. There is a full hook-up RV campground - Creekside RV park which is on the road to South Lake.

Lake Sabrina Boat Landing has gone to summer hours. That means we'll be opening at 7:00am and stay open until 7:00pm. The Café is now open daily for Breakfast at 7:00am to 11:00am with lunch being served from 11:00am to 4:00pm. We have have pie, sodas, beer, wine, coffee, tea and hot cocoa. Bryan started his summer employment on Monday. We are looking forward to seeing you all this year.
