BASS
The continuously cold nights kept the surface temps low in turn slowing the bass bite, but that is not to say there has not been typical DVL reports. The best anglers have been reporting 10 fish days, but the catches have been running small, between 2 and 3 pounds. Drop shot rigged worms in oxblood, prism shad, and morning dawn, senkos in watermelon or green pumpkin, and Carolina rigged brush hogs have been reported as the best choices in plastics fished in the coves. There have been some spinner bait reports from afternoon fishermen and some folks have reported catching bass on swimbaits in the morning.

TROUT
Trout fishing has been fair for boaters and shore anglers. Nightcrawlers, Powerbait, Powerworms, and mini Jigs have been the best baits. Most trout catches have been on the east dam or the coves west of the marina. Darryl Spivey of West Covina caught two 4.5 pound trout fishing from shore with Powerbait. Julie I Camp of Corona caught the biggest trout of the week at 11.5 pounds fishing with a senko near the inlet tower.

STRIPER
Mt. Lassen and DFG combined forces late this week to spur the striper into near wide open action. LA sliders, Lunker Punkers, Z Plugs, and Huddlestons are the most reported baits as of late. Paul Thompson of Hemet caught a 23.69 pound trout fishing with a Zplug on the south shore. Alex Toedt of Escondido caught a 9.56 pound striper fishing near the inlet with a swimbait. Mike Southerland of Fontana caught 3 stripers at 8, 13, and 14 pounds fishing with a Zplug along the west dam.

CATFISH
Anglers have been consistently catching cats from shore as well as boats. Mackerel and anchovies have been the most reported baits, but shrimp and chicken liver has accounted for a few reports. The most reported areas have been the saddle dam, Rawson cove, and near the wave attenuator. Chris Hagopian got his biggest two cats at 12 pounds each fishing with mackerel near the quarry. Terry Lairson also caught two cats at 12 pounds fishing near the inlet.

PANFISH
The panfish bite improved this week with a few blue gill and crappie reported. Rawson cove and the saddle dam were the most reported spots Mini jigs, and live worms are the most common panfish baits. Jim Campos caught a 2.93 bluegill fishing from shore. Sue McGarvey of San Diego caught a 2.33 pound.

LAKE RECORDS
Lake Record Striper April 17, 2010: Jesse Mena of Hemet broke the DVL striper record with 33.27 pounds. He was fishing near the inlet tower with a Lunker Punker.

Lake Record Largemouth Bass March 16th 2007: Mike Long of Poway, 16.43 lb bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.

Lake Record Crappie: Jesse Mena of Hemet caught a 3.47 pound crappie fishing near the saddle dam with a white crappie jig.

Lake Record Red Ear Sunfish: Michael Wolf of Redondo Beach caught a 3.45 pound bluegill fishing with trout Krilla near the rock quarry.

Lake Record Catfish October 29, 2008: Jason Walsh, of Temecula, caught a 42.56 pound catfish using an LA Slider near the inlet tower.

Lake Record Trout March 14, 2009: Andrew Aralos of Hemet caught a 15.45 pound trout. He was fishing with Powerbait near the east dam.
