Children to Learn How to Fish at Junior Fishing Workshop, Yucaipa Regional Park

(December 9, 2009 - Yucaipa, CA)
Fishing is a family-friendly sport. Trout season is in full swing and San Bernardino Regional Parks is encouraging children ages 5-11 to learn how to fish by offering Junior Fishing Workshops. The second in a series of five will be held at Yucaipa Regional Park, 33900 Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa Saturday, December 19th from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Children are taught the parts of a fishing pole, how to tie a line, the types of baits to use and how to catch and cast. Once they learn the basic elements, they are given an opportunity to put their newly learned skills to work and fish. All materials for the workshop are provided for each child enrolled.

Junior Fishing Workshops were introduced last year and due to the positive response the number of workshops was increased from three to five for the 2009-2010 Season. Several of the workshop "graduates" were able to catch fish, raising their level of confidence. Developing these skills may prove to be rewarding not only as a sense of accomplishment, but being able to spend quality time with the family and even having something to show for it.

Junior Fishing Workshops registration is $5 per child. There is a $10 vehicle entry fee for the park. Call 909-387-2461 to register, or for additional information regarding this program.
