Sportfishing Report from San Quintin, Baja California, December 2009

On Saturday December 5th, 2009, I visited The Old Mill Site at San Quintín, for the fish counts from the sportfishing catch.

A total of five boats were fishing out: Marinero, Cucajuan, Goyita, a private Parker boat, and Campo de Lorenzo, this last was not evaluated. These first four boats lodged 10 anglers and captured a total of 119 individuals, all bottom fish from the 210 and 240 spots.

The most abundant fish species was the ocean whitefish (34 individuals), followed by the starry rockfish (25), red rockfish (15), and assorted of boccacio, brown rockfish, kelp rockfish, and lingcod.

The Saturday was sunny with light winds but with big waves on open sea, Sea surface temperature reported by Captains was 59-61 Fahrenheit degrees. I returned to Ensenada on Sunday night, before of the cold and heavy rain.

With this report, I sent you a total of twelve reports about the catch of the San Quintín sportfishing, a place with Excellent people, Good fishing, good and different food, an ideal site to forget the street noise, the fast of the city, and at four hours driving from the border. Saludos and Happy Holidays, December arrived fast
