Dixon Lake Fish Report - November 1st
11-22-2009
Dixon Lake Staff
Trout action has started here this past Wednesday with the first plant of the season. Conditions started off slow, but the trout action has picked up over the weekend. Most trout are being caught on night crawlers, Rainbow Power Bait or small crappie jigs. The scale has already being tipped by a local Encinitas fisherman, Richard Henderson who had a nice stringer with a nice Bow weighing in at 5 lb 8 oz. near the Buoy line. With catches like this, Dixon would expect another nice year of stocking those "Tail Walkers" from Chaulk Mound Trout Ranch from Nebraska.
Dixon Lake's 31st Annual Trout Derby will be a 5 day event this year. The derby will take place Nov 11th -15th. Prizes will be awarded daily for first and second place in each age division (child, adult and seniors). The first 15 tagged fish, the smallest fish and for the overall grand prize.
Not much bass action around the lake but angler pressure has been quite low. The bass action has been best early then slowing after 10 AM. Try Boat Dock Cove area where the bass are still chasing the shad schools. A few smaller sized bass are still being caught.
Boat rental rates will be $35 for All Day motor boats, $30 for Half Day motors. Row boats rates are $17 All Day and $14 for Half Day.
Park hours: 6 AM to 5:00 PM (Every Day)
Boat dock closes: 3:45 PM (Boats are called in @ 3:30 PM)
Last Stock: November 4th (1500 pounds of Rainbow Trout)
Next Stock: November 10th (4500 pounds of Rainbow Trout)
Water temperature: 65
Water level: Very Low- dropping all week
