Fish Plants: Rainbow trout, 2,400 pounds May 17th. The last trout plant will be on May 24th.

Lake Hours: 6:00 am - 6:30 pm.

Weather: The weather has been fluctuating this week. the mornings have been in the 60's with the sun not bringing warmth until after 10am. The winds picked up in the afternoon on Friday resulting in a lake closure.

Bass: It was another hot week of bass fishing at DVL with??spawning bass being caught in the backs of coves and along the dams as well as post spawn fish being picked up on the points. Successful anglers seeking bedded fish have been working sandy or gravely areas in the backs of the coves generally in 5- 15 feet of water. The most reported baits for spawning bass have been Yamamoto Senkos and Ikas in watermelon or green pumpkin as well as Carolina or Texas rigged plastics 6-10" with purple and green being the most reported colors. There have been many anglers getting hefty limits drop shotting 4" morning dawn Roboworms on the points 25 feet down. Rawson Cove has been the most reported bass cove this week, with the third cove of the shore line fishing area, the north corner of the east dam, the west dam, and around the saddle dam also producing well. Shoreline anglers have had consistent catches, but with less success than the boat anglers. Jimmy Jam and son Rob lost track of how many fish they caught, but it was easily in the teens for each angler. Rob's biggest of the day, just under 6lb. They even managed a decent sized small mouth as well as a holdover trout. Most of the fish were caught between 6 and 20 feet with wacky rigged Senkos. The ticket for "SoCal DVLer" was Texas-rigged 6" Black Grape and MM III Roboworms on main lake points in roughly 15 - 25 feet . On one spot they got at least 10 fish (for 3 guys), topped off with a ~6lb post spawn female. They ended the day with ~20 fish total .Al Edmiston of Winchester got a 4.61 pound bass on the east dam 20 feet down with a Renegade Arkansas Shad lure. Don Rodriguez of Upland got a 4.22 and 3 pound bass drop shot rigging Morning dawn Roboworms near the eucalyptus trees. Shingo Nakamama of Tokyo, Japan got a 23 pound limit fishing with plastic worms on the east dam. Ken Mckillop got over twenty bass with his biggest weighing 7.25 pounds. he was using Senkos in 2 feet of water. John Pfeiffer of Hemet got a 6.08 pound bass fishing with plastic worms on the east dam in 10 feet of water. Robert Biglow of Holland Ohio got a 6.52 pound bass 25 feet down on a DVL destroyer Roboworm.

Trout: Trout fishing has been great this week. Shoreline and boat anglers have been getting limits with Kastmasters, Power Bait and Roostertails being the top baits. The marina has been the top spot for stockers. The holdover bite has seen a remarkable improvement. The west dam, east dam, saddle dam, and near restroom 3. Most holdover trout have been pulled from 10- 35 feet either by trolling spoons or cranks, or drifting night crawlers. Hot lures for trolling are Needlefish, kastmasters, and shad pattern Rapalas. Richard Nissen of San Jacinto got a 3.85 pound holdover trolling a Needlefish on the west dam at 50 feet. Jim Dixon of Hemet got 6 holdover trout on the west side, releasing 4. All the fish ,a solid 2.5 ??? 3.5 pounds, fell for a Needlefish trolled at 30 feet. Mitch Mahone of La Ca??ada got 5 holdover fish while trolling on the west side his biggest weighed just under 4 pounds. Steve Park got a 8.37 pound trout near the marina. He was fishing with night crawlers 25 feet down. Charles Yelverton of San Clemente got a 6.81 pound trout on the third point of shore fishing using salmon eggs.

Striper: There were no striper reports this week.

Catfish: There have been some folks spotted leaving with stringers of catfish from shore line and boat anglers alike. The best baits have been night crawlers or mackerel.

Panfish: There has been small amounts of crappie and blue gill being caught this week. there was a 1.7 pound crappie caught on yellow mini jigs.

Lake Record Striper November 11, 2005: Art Berry of Hemet; 29.77 lb. striper caught at East Dam using swimbait.

Lake Record Largemouth Bass March 16th 2007: DVL would like to congratulate Mike Long of Poway who became the new Largemouth bass record holder this week with a 16.43 pound bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.

Lake Record Crappie:3.0 pounds landed by Keith Thomas. He was fishing with shad.

Lake Record Blue Gill: John Arganda, of?? Menifee, broke the lake pan fish record by bringing in a 3.06 pound blue gill. He got it on a night crawler fishing near the saddle dam.

NEW Lake Record Catfish January 19, 2007: Congratulations to Doug Hagadorn of Valley Center! He caught a 32.80 pound catfish. He was fishing at 60 feet with a Pig N' Jig around the first island on the north shore.

Lake Record Trout, March 12, 2005: Shawn Luhmann got a 11.30 pound rainbow trout on on the shoreline fishing area.
