San Nicolas Island is well know for the monster rockfish, sheephead and lingcod that inhabit its waters. Everybody on board was flush with excitement and anticipation when Captain Ursitti decided that would be the destination for a recent overnight trip aboard the Ranger 85. We headed out of Channel Islands Harbor on time with a full load of passengers ready to battle some San Nic monsters and trust me the island did not dissapoint. We were at the Island by daybreak and soaking lines shortly thereafter. It didn't take long before everyone was bent and huge rockfish were flying over the rails. The next hours produced an awesome variety and quality of rockfish for everyone on board. Species caught included: lingcod, vermillion rockfish, copper and olive rockfish, cabezon, blue bass, calico bass, whitefish and sheephead to name a few, all big and fat. By the time the scales stopped flying we had put 1000 tasty rockfish in the bags for the 50 anglers on board. Awesome day of fishing !!!!! Of course this also meant a marathon filleting session for AJ, Tyler, Manny and Ryan, and pull it off they did. Great job Guys !!!!!! An unexpected problem with another boat left a group of anglers stranded at the docks so Captain Ursitti and his crew stepped up to accommadate the stranded anglers. There would be no anglers left standing on the docks tonight. The Captain and crew stepped up big time, working overtime to make sure everyone had a great trip. The huge Ranger 85 easily accomodated the entire group. A special thanks To Captain Ursitti and his crew for working so hard to insure a great time by all and to everyone on board for working together so well. Great Trip !!!!
