Big Red

9-23-2025
Tim Ekstrom

Plenty of bluefin in prime condition resting in the RSW tank and a slower morning of production motivated a welcomed change of pace. Seeking variety and some fine fare for the table and freezer the afternoon passed in search of yellowtail and bottom grabbers. On the yellowtail front results were nil. Fortunately tasty bottom varieties made up the difference. Limits of beautiful "reds" and plenty of supplemental "sandwich fish" rounded out the day and trip results along with a few more bluefin that joined the party while we drifted along shallows. Setting course for home at sundown pristine weather made for a heavenly glide in. Final trip image features long time Royal Star veteran and friend Dan Jehl with a nice example of the beautiful grade vermillion rock fish encountered in the shallows today.
