Riviera Marina Fishing Report

Rusty

Local anglers Nolan and Marcy Chefalo recently had a successful outing in the Big Bend area. They were fishing from the shore of the Colorado River on the Nevada side using anchovies. Just a reminder: your Arizona fishing license allows you to fish on both sides of the Colorado River.

What's even better is that they were using light tackle—Barbie poles, in fact—and still managed to land some nice stripers. Reports indicate that anglers are having great success here, whether fishing from the shore or from boats. Anchovies have been the bait of choice, though a few lures and swim baits are also starting to produce stripers in the 5 to 8-pound range.

Up at Lake Mohave, trolling has been particularly effective, yielding stripers in the 4 to 10-pound range. Umbrella rigs, various swim baits, and bucktail jigs are all working well. Fishing near the coves just past the power lines and around the island on the Nevada side has been especially fruitful for larger stripers.

There hasn't been much news from the marsh lately—probably due to the hot weather and lower water levels downstream.

Hope this information helps, and we look forward to seeing you soon to share your catch and your story. Thanks for your support!

Now, go catch a fish!
