What a day; one that defined long range fishing to perfection. All alone, hundreds of miles from home, azure seas, and spectacular fishing for yellowfin tuna in the 50-70 pound class. Mixed in were plenty of “smaller” fish in the 25-40 pound range and even a handful of bluefin. And while the day began in dubious fashion - not a fish on board before almost noon, the zone we sought indeed was found and as good of fishing for beautiful grade yellowfin tuna followed. The first three hours of what became a seven hour drift really did the trick wearing down the majority of anglers. Non stop pulling on highly spirited, ferocious yellowfin will do that. Exhausted, sated, and thoroughly satisfied by the end the rail was completely cleared. Exultant anglers, nursing sore hands and limbs, shared spirits and tales of a day that will go down among the finest in their experience. All alone in an ocean full of beautiful grade fish catching to our hearts content. Long range fishing defined. Far from limits but clearly finished on yellowfin tuna we’ll shift gears tomorrow in favor of variety elsewhere. We sign off today with overwhelming gratitude. Ahhh…

Image of the day features our old friend Dennis McNealy who is no stranger to this caliber of fish and fishing. That said he is no less appreciative for every moment. This dandy was one of many triumphs Dennis claimed today. Beautiful fish!
