Shasta Lake pumping out fat football Browns an Bows

The past week of Brown and Rainbow Trout fishing on Shasta Lake can be summed up this way complete spoilage. All my clients this week were first time Shasta Lake fishers. The pictures say it all but I will steal a quote from my 8 year old client Luke, " OH now that's another Dandy one !"

We caught a lot of Dandies this week, ranging size from 2 to 7 pounds. There were multiple fish, one Browns and one King Salmon that took top honors at 7 pounds and there were many other 4 to 6 pound Browns and Rainbows caught this week. These fat football trout have been fighting hard, ripping drag, jumping, giving there all. It has been quite a summer watching these glutinous trout grow, and get fatter by the day, as they continue to gorge themselves on shad.

Trolling plugs latherd in shad scent at depths between 55 and 90 feet at 2 to 3.5 mph has been the hot method. The weather has been well over 100 degrees at times but don't let that scare you. Thr early mornings have been extremely comfortable and breezy with temps been 60 an 70 degrees.
