I apologize for missing yesterday's report. As many of you know, Bluefin tuna fishing takes the soul out of you sometimes. Let's jump back in to it.
Day/night 2:
After scratching up a decent catch of beautiful grade 20-38lb Yellowtail yesterday, we made the quick 30 mile move back up to the zone of many Tunas. 10 knots and calm seas exact opposite of the nautical conditions from the night before. Quick couple of laps in the late after, we got out box laid out and have a good idea of where to be once the sun goes down. Much like night 1, plenty of opportunities throughout the entire night providing a lot of bites. Bites were easy to come by but landing was a whole different story. Despite our not so great hook to land ratio we were able to put a catch together with almost the daily limit. To be completely clear. I don't care about numbers, what I do care about is giving every angler the best opportunity to make a catch.
Day 3:
Woke up this morning back in the Yellowtail mode. Things are a little different this morning, just didn't have that warm and fuzzy feeling about it; gave it a few hours anyway for no result. Threw in the towel and bailed back to see if we can entice a few big fish with the flying fish via the aerial attack tactic. Made it back up to the zone with a couple hours of daylight left we were able to achieve our goal of ending this already epic trip with a couple bigguns. Cherry on top.
Today's photo honors goes to the father / daughter: Team Kurata. Dale & Emma showing of their hard earned mid hundred pounders from last night! I'll also include a few other photos from the last 24 hours. Enjoy!
Brian is leading the charge on the next voyage. Sure to be some great reports from the warmer zone below. Stay tuned
